Nuclear Medicine - Bone Scan

State of the art Philips BrightView XCT Gamma Cameras with low dose SPECT CT are deployed across our network.

What is Nuclear Medicine?

Nuclear Medicine uses small amounts of radioactive tracers to provide functional and anatomical information about the body.

Nuclear Medicine can be utilised to detect active areas of arthritis and degenerative joint pathology.

CASE STUDY

62YO female went to her GP with back pain and stiffness. The GP ordered a bone scan.

Findings

The bone scan demonstrated right sided active facet joint arthritis between L4 and L5.

Result

Subsequently, this enabled our Radiologist to deliver a localised steroid injection into the affected facet joint resulting in the alleviation of pain and increased mobility.
